Roots in the city, flavors of the land
A Milanese story of cuisine and passion
In 1979, Gino Narducci left his family’s historic trattoria, La Vittoria, to embark on a new project.
The buyer was Italo Manca: from that meeting came first a collaboration, then a friendship, and finally a partnership. Together they created La Libera, a beerhouse with kitchen serving dishes inspired by tradition, paired with selected beers from Northern Europe.
It was 1979 when Civitelli—Milan’s first importer of French and Belgian beers—installed his very first tap right on the early-1900s wooden counter, still the heart of the venue today.
After three years, Gino and Italo expanded the wine list and the menu, staying true to Milanese cuisine while welcoming the loyal guests of Trattoria Vittoria. Some dishes from that time remain, such as the beer-risotto Il Liberato.
